Darn May flies!!!

My poor little squirrel has inherited my severe reaction to bug bites. She got bit on the eyelid (of all places!!) on Monday and it is really swollen and itchy. I got bit on the earlobe over the weekend and it swelled to cartoon proportions off and on for a couple of days and itched like crazy. This morning her eyelid looks really bad. I gave her a Benadryl and some Acetaminophen to see if that helps. Does anyone know a good home remedy for the itching and swelling of bug bites besides applying ice?

Sorry, I don't, but I'd love to hear of some!

My son gets this, too. Gads, it is horrible. For example, he will get bit on the leg and the entire limb swells up to 10 times the size of the other one! It is scary!

I usually put a glob of benadryl cream on the bite then put a bandaid over it to discourage scratching... but that would be a bit difficult on the earlobe or eyelid! Yikes!

I dont know any home remedies, other than meat tenderizer applied to the area or a baking powder/water paste. but i think that has to be done pretty soon after the bite occurs. Wow, thats uncanny though bc i just got stung by a dumb bee on my foot this weekend and though I'm not allergic, I always have a reaction that seems disproportionate to others. Like, 48 hours later and im still swollen, itchy, burning, and a large area is numb, discolored, and peeling off skin. Wierd.
